The Bar-Kays will celebrate their golden anniversary this year with a red carpet celebration with friends and fans from all across the country Thursday, Dec. 4 at the Cannon Center for Performing Arts.
Hosted by Elise Neal and Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs, performances will include George Clinton, Confunkshun, Eddie Levert, The Dazz Band, Mary Jane Girls, Willie Clayton, Sir Charles Jones, Jazze Pha, The SOS Band, Doug E. Fresh, the reunion of the United We Funk All-Stars and DJ Quik.
With the holiday giving season in full swing, the Bar-Kays Foundation is giving back to the city of Memphis and their fans with a “buy one, bring a friend” offer as an opportunity for the Bar-Kays to show their appreciation to Memphis and their fans for their support during the year of their anniversary and during the last five decades. The gala is nearing a sell-out and there are a limited number of seats available for this offer. This offer is only for new ticket purchases from Dec. 1 until Dec. 4.
The benefit gala supports the Bar-Kays coined “Fab Five” nonprofit organizations: The Down Syndrome Association of Memphis & the Mid-South, St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, United Way of the Mid-South, The STAX Music Academy and The Allen Jones/Marjorie Barringer/Bar-Kays Scholarship Fund in support of LeMoyne Owen College.
Doors open at 6 p.m. to the lobby of the Cannon Center for cocktail hour. Red Carpet is from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
