Memphis news anchor Pam McKelvy has shared her journey with us since finding out that she had been diagnosed with cancer. Pam has endured chemo and a double mastectomy after being diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2012. On Wednesday’s show, McKelvy sent an inspiring message to breast cancer sufferers and survivors by removing her wig on air to reveal her own hair, which is slowly growing back.
“A woman’s relationship with her hair is sacred,” she said. “Her hair is her crown of glory. And for women in TV. It’s intensified. I lost my hair after chemo and I’ve been wearing a wig since this past march. Today I’m taking it off for good. This is a milestone, blessed experience for me….I want everybody to know that no matter what you go through, it’s not about what’s on the outside, it’s about what’s on the inside. And I feel that on the inside I am more radiant and beautiful than I’ve ever been.”
She has been wearing a wig on air since last March. She has now decided to go natural.
She is finished with chemotherapy. Pam’s hope is that her story can inspire those women, and convince others to get tested.
These are pictures of Pam before she lost her hair.
Pam you are beautiful just the way you are. Stay Xclusive!
