This past Friday (Feb 28th), Three 6 Mafia/Da Mafia 6ix kicked off the Sinners Tour 2014 in Memphis, TN. The concert was everything fans had waited for. The deliver an amazing show and a much needed come back. Memphians DJ Paul, Gangsta Boo, Crunchy Black, and Koopsta Nicca took to the stage of the New Daisy Theatre for the first time in years as a group.

Although, the group is missing Juicy J. who is working on his solo projects and Lord Infamous who passed away last year (story), the semi-reunion went on without a ding. The energy, support and love in the building was amazing. Although, the group went their separate ways years ago; you could not tell they had ever spent one day apart. DJ Paul has traveled all over and even won an Oscar. He was so not Hollywood. Although, he travels all over Memphis is still home. You could feel the love for the fans as the group geared up for the night.

The idea to reunite the original members of Three 6 Mafia started as a tossed-off comment Paul made to Lord Infamous. When Paul tweeted the idea, fan response was immediate and overwhelming. With Paul busy working on projects with Drumma Boy, Yelawolf and country singer Laura Bell Bundy, Lord Infamous set about organizing the reunion under the new name to avoid conflict with Columbia Records.

In November, Da Mafia 6ix released the mixtape 6iX Commandments, which featured guest appearances by Juicy J, Project Pat, Lil Wyte and Yelawolf and was hailed as a return to classic form.

‘Thank you guys, so much” Paul echoed the tone over and over while interacting with fans. The hugs and handshakes was overjoyed to spend time with the true Memphis legends. This was a family affair.

Fans began to line up one hour to show time. Eager to get their hands on tour merchandise, which displayed the new group name,  colorful masks, and RIP tees in memory of Lord Infamous. Everyone was anxious to see the group hit the stage for the long-awaited semi-reunion. Shortly after 11pm the group hit the stage dressed in black gear. From the 1st track that the DJ dropped till the last. It was truly a party. I often found myself saying this is not a concert it was a party.

From special guests such as New Orleans’s Mia X, DJ Zirk, Skinny Pimp, Lil Wyte, and Lil Chat the night was filled with surprises. Fans of all ages and races blended inside the theatre to witness history in the making.
