This past Saturday, downtown Memphis was the place to be. My guy Dr. Derrick Payne celebrated his birthday by brining in some of my favorite artists. Juvenile and Mystikal took the stage to help him celebrate and to take us down memory lane.
In addition to the scheduled artists, Juvenile brought a surprise guest. The homie Turk also took the stage.
Turk was one of the original member of Cash Money Records ‘Hot Boys’. Turk and the crew were the hottest artists in the 90’s. I always smile when I see Turk, because, despite all he has been through he still holds his head.
If you have been under a rock, Turk is out here in the streets grinding his music. He is now married and his wife gave birth to twins a few years ago. He also recently lost his father (story here). I ran into Turk last year and we had a great convo about the path in life he is on.
I didn’t get a chance to get up with Turk at the party, I was busy trying to keep up. It was a great night and great music. They all still sound the same and the music never seems to get old.
