When asked about the death of his friend, Penny had this to say:

“Today is a tough day because we lost a guy that was so caring for this neighborhood…you know we grew up in this neighborhood and this is what he lived and breathed for. He is the main reason I came back and got into the basketball at Lester Middle.”

  1. Hi,

I am working on an ESPN doc series on Penny Hardaway and am trying to source the rights to the image of Former Lester Middle School basketball coach Desmond Merriweather watches his team play from the bench as seen on your site at:

Are you the photographer and if not, do you know who snapped the photo or controls the rights? I want to license permission for use in program.

    Kind regards,

    David Lizama
