This past Saturday (March 22,2013) The Memphis Black Expo held it’s annual black expo event. The event was full of fun, food, networking, entertainment and much more. There was something for everyone in the family to participate in. Whether you were looking to purchase house insurance or get a quick hair and/or lashes it was available at the event. Hundreds of vendors lined the Agricenter to meet and greet attendees.
The Memphis Black Expo held a (3) celebration of events centered around empowering and celebrating the culture.
It is a great day of fun, networking and a good family day.
The goal of the Memphis Black Expo is to serve as a catalyst to improve conditions in the African-American community by creating a family-oriented environment that celebrates, empowers and cultivates the community including small businesses, nonprofits, community based organizations and corporations. It also celebrates the excellence in arts and entertainment among youth and adults and honors African-American Achievers through the “Making Memphis History” award. In addition, it provides an opportunity for education in areas of health and wellness, finance, technology and business development through workshops and interactive displays.
There were Gospel Choirs, Liturgical Dance Ministries, My Black is Beautiful” Natural Beauty Pageant, “Battle on the Bluff” Step & Dance Competition, Corvette Car & Bike Show, Guest Speakers, Forums, Celebrity Appearances, Networking, Great Shopping & More!
Actor and Television Star Laz Alonso was on hand in the celebrity lounge to greet fans, take pics and sign autographs. The Memphis Black Expo surprised Alonso with a birthday cake for his 40th celebration (pics here).
