Every Memphis Grizzlies fan has a wish to be able to rub shoulders with the Memphis Grizzlies. The Memphis Grizzlies and the Mid-South chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation made eight-year-old Charvis Brewer’s wish come true on Sunday. Not only did he get to rub shoulders with them; he got to be a Grizz for a day. He was “drafted” to be a Memphis Grizzlies Player for a day. Mike Conley and Randolph are Charvis’ two favorite players.
The Make a Wish receipent who suffers from cerebral palsy, is now the “youngest [drafted] player in the 67-year span of the league.” He loves the Grizzlies. He even attempted to help coach them while visiting.
“If they make a bad mistake, he’ll call them out, you know,” Charvis’ dad, Michael Douglas, said, via Alexander. “He’ll tell’em (sic) to get back and do right. Coach’ll pull out the wrong person, he’ll call him out and say ‘No, you took the wrong one out, put the right one back in.'”
Charvis’ mom, Colissa Brewer said, “He gets excited, very excited! He loves the Grizzlies and I love to see him do that, because he can’t do what other kids can do. And so when he’s into basketball, I’m into basketball with him.”
He will be in attendance tonight at the Memphis game; so keep your eyes open for him.
