While hanging out in New Orleans for the Essence Festival, Xclusive Memphis covered the 11th Annual McDonald’s 365Black Awards. Ronald McDonald was on hand to welcome everyone out and he kicked off the carpet arrivals.
I have no words to describe the energy for the awards show. The morning start really early for media.
We had a 8am arrival time. In addition to covering the event we were also approved to work the yellow carpet.
Lots of celebrities and McDonald’s owners graced the carpet. They took pictures conducted interviews and gave lots of love.
This was truly the high light of my trip. To be able to witness first hand, so many great people be honored; it was amazing.
This year honorees included: civil rights activist the Rev. Al Sharpton, music executive/ entrepreneur Kevin Liles, film producer Will Packer, inspirational leader Iyanla Vanzant, former NFL athlete Dhani Jones, McDonald’s Owner/Operator Henry Coaxum, artist Skyler Grey and entrepreneur Gabrielle Jordan Williams.
The taping will air on BET Networks, August 10 at 10 p.m. EDT.
The awards show will also air on CENTRIC, August 17 at 11 p.m. EDT.
When you tune in to the show, pay close attention to the speeches. The words of encouragement that each recipient shared was so powerful. My award for most heartfelt speech goes to Iyanla Vanzant , she had me in tears.
