Last week, Clear Channel Media group held a private viewing for Mary J. Blige’s ‘The London Sessions’. Several local media outlets passed out screening passes for guests to view the new documentary.
Xclusive Memphis stopped by to preview the screening with a few friends in tow. The film, directed by Sam Wrench takes us behind the scene of Mary’s recording process.
We ran into K-97’s Big Sue and Devin Steel, as well as V-101’s Angela Jackson and 103.5 fm’s Earle Augustus.
Mary spent time in London alongside Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins, Capitol Records’ CEO Steve Barnett, songwriter Jimmy Napes, Sam Smith, Emeli Sandé, Naughty Boy and Sam Romans. They all worked collectivelly on Mary’s new album.
In the documentary, we were able to watch Mary assist in the song writing process as well as her recording process. Her husband Kendu Isaacs makes a few apperances. Mary also took time while in the UK to meet up with the father of the late Amy Winehouse, It was a very emotional moment for her.
