JJB-showpage

He is no stranger to controversy and definitely no stranger to Memphis. Former TV Judge Joe Brown has announced that he will run for Shelby County District Attorney.

The Judge made the official announcement on The Thaddeus Matthews Show on Monday, February 17, 2014.

Last week he pulled a petition to run for Shelby County District Attorney General against incumbent Amy Weirich.

“I have noticed a trend over several decades that the office is perceived as  belonging to the people that hold office and work as assistance,” Brown said.  “That office belongs to the people of Shelby County. That is, to whom anyone in  that office assistant, head, investigator or otherwise is answerable – the people.”

Amy Weirich currently holds the seat of Shelby County District Attorney  General, the first female DAG in county history. Brown, who was the first Black prosecutor in Memphis history.

This position will not be about pay for Brown, as it is reported that has television show grossed in the millions annually.

Brown became the first African-American prosecutor in the city of Memphis. He would later open his own law practice before becoming a judge on the State Criminal Court of Shelby County, Tennessee.

I wish Judge Joe Brown the best of luck in his upcoming campaign days.
