This past weekend, author Monyetta Shaw was in her hometown of Shreveport to host a book signing. The mayor of Shreveport, Mayor Cedric Glover presented Monyetta with a key to the city for her outstanding job as a business woman and author.
The book signing was held at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church for her new book the Adventures of Maddie.
“It’s just inspired people because I come from Greenwood, La. or Shreveport, La.” Shaw said. “A lot of people think they can’t do things like this, be an author or even make it. You can! The sky is the limit. If you have dream, go for it.”

Xclsiuve Memphis got a chance to catch up with Monyetta during her Essence book signing. We had chatted many times over social media, but we had never met. She was everything, in person, I thought she would be; charming, polite, and her spirit was beautiful.
