It’s a new year and it’s time to refill my social calendar. One of the events I look forward to every year is the The Essence Festival held down in NOLA every year.
This year is the 20th Anniversary and the lineup continues to grow!
We recently announced that Prince was the line-up and all my followers almost lost it. (Story here)
If you have not booked your travel you may be out to of luck.
The other day more of the 2014 performing artists were released.
With names like Lionel Richie, Mary J. Blige, Naughty by Nature, Doug E. Fresh, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Charlie Wilson & More who wouldn’t want to be in the house.
I am even keeping my fingers cross that one of the Memphis promoters do a pop-up event. SHHHHH!!
Main Stage performances this Fourth of July weekend will also include Jill Scott, Ledisi and Charlie Wilson. The Superlounges will see electrifying performances from Sevyn Streeter, Marsha Ambrosius, King, 112, Sebastian Mikael, Naughty by Nature, Doug E. Fresh, Stephanie Mills, PJ Morton, Eve, Robert Glasper, Amel Larrieux, Big Sam’s Funky Nation, Raheem Davaugh, Kourtney Heart, Elle Varner, Leela James, Liv Warfield, The Original Pinettes Brass Band and more to be announced.
The evening concerts will be hosted by Nephew Tommy.
Also this year one of my favorite gospel singers will be in the building. Gospel star Yolanda Adams will be honored with an all-star tribute at ESSENCE’s Empowerment Experience, hosted by Donnie McClurkin. Rev. Al Sharpton, Steve Harvey and Iyanla Vanzant are all scheduled to participate in the Empowerment Experience as well.
The 2014 ESSENCE Festival will be begin on July 3rd and will wrap up on July 6th in New Orleans.
Will I see you there?
