Kanye West & Alicia Keys to Perform at Superstorm Sandy Benefit

Superstorm Sandy has impacted many people with its powers storm. Many families are still with out power, some lost everything they had. I can only imagine what’s its like to have to pick up the pieces and star over. On December 12, several big name celebrities are coming together to assist those who was impacted by  Superstorm Sandy.

The Madison Square Garden Company, the Weinstein company and Clear Channel have partnered to throw a benefit concert, called “12-12-12,” at New York’s Madison Square Garden that Wednesday.

The lineup includes Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Jon Bon Jovi, Kanye West, Billy Joel, The Who, Alicia Keys,  and Roger Waters, with more to be announced.

The Weinstein Company’s Harvey Weinstein is serving as event producer along with John Sykes and James Dolan. The three said in a statement that they expect “12-12-12″ to be a “showcase of music royalty.”

The one-night-only concert will benefit the Robin Hood Relief Fund in an effort to help those picking up the wreckage Sandy left behind in the tri-state area.

The response from the entertainment community to help those most affected by Sandy has been nothing short of astounding,” Dolan, Weinstein and Sykes said in the statement. “We expect to announce additional legendary performers in the near future and we are confident that the event will ensure those in need will not be forgotten, and vital aid will be directed to rebuilding our communities along the East Coast.”

The concert will air on Clear Channel radio stations and their websites across the country, as well as on iHeartRadio and Clear Channel’s music television network, Fuse.

I’ll be watching and will continue to pray for the families.
